Locally, volunteers are making international outreach possible by donating their time, talents and resources. Hundreds of people have volunteered thousands of hours at HHIM. They collect, clean, repair and box donated wheelchairs and other equipment. In addition, they also assist in record keeping, load and unload trucks for pick-up and delivery, and drive all over the country to make pick-ups. They are also extremely involved in the manufacturing of the wheelchairs as well.
Currently, there are 9 shops located in the tri-state area that are involved in this process. These shops are located in:
Iowa: Rock Valley, George, Orange City, Ireton, Ft. Dodge and Sanborn
South Dakota: Volga and Sioux Falls
Minnesota: Edgerton
We also have two shops located within the South Dakota prison system where inmates volunteer their time as well.
